SIMO Rides

Terms of use

Last updated November 6, 2026

1. About these terms

SIMO Rides is a trading name of Drive Car Rental, Inc., a company registered in Delaware, United States. In these terms "SIMO Rides", "we" and "us" mean Drive Car Rental, Inc., and "you" means the person using the app or this site.

These terms apply when you use the SIMO Rides app or simorides.com to book a rental car, an airport transfer or a ride, or when you pay for a ride through a link we send you. By booking or paying, you accept them.

2. What SIMO Rides does

SIMO Rides is a marketplace. We connect you with independent rental companies, transfer operators and drivers (the "provider"). We do not own or operate the vehicles. The rental, transfer or ride itself is provided by the provider, and the provider is responsible for the vehicle, its insurance and the service.

A provider may have its own rental agreement or conditions. By booking, you agree that the provider's agreement governs the rental or service, alongside these terms.

[TO CONFIRM: whether drivers who take street-hail rides are independent operators in every market, and what that means for the contract with the rider]

3. Your account

  • You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. Keep your codes to yourself: anyone with a code can use your account.
  • The details you give us must be accurate and yours.
  • You must be at least 18 to use SIMO Rides, and at least 21 to rent a car. A provider may set a higher age or ask for a driving licence held for a minimum time. [TO CONFIRM: minimum ages per market]

4. Rentals

  • When you book a rental, we place a hold on your card for 50% of the total price. The hold shows on your statement but is not a payment until it is taken.
  • The provider confirms the booking. The rest of the price is paid to the provider at pick-up, in the local currency shown before you book.
  • If the provider proposes a different price for your dates, nothing changes until you accept it: we send you a link, and you confirm the new price with a code sent to your phone.
  • At pick-up the provider may ask for your driving licence, an identity document and a security deposit under its own agreement.
  • [TO CONFIRM: when the 50% hold is taken (on confirmation or at pick-up) and what happens to it if no provider confirms]

5. Airport transfers

  • A transfer is paid in full, by card, when you book. The price is fixed for the route and the vehicle category you choose.
  • Give the pick-up details accurately, including a flight number where we ask for one, so the provider can meet you.

6. Rides you hail in the street

  • When you take a ride with a SIMO Rides driver without booking in the app, the driver sets the fare and shows you a code or sends you a link. You see the fare before you approve it.
  • Approving places a hold on your card for that fare. It is not a payment. The final fare is taken when you are dropped off, and it is never more than the amount you approved.
  • If the ride does not happen, the hold is released within 12 hours. How fast the money reappears in your account depends on your bank.
  • After you approve, we send you a tracking link for the ride. You may share it; anyone with it can see the driver's first name, the car, the destination and the car's position until the link expires.

7. Prices and payments

  • Every price is shown before you pay or approve a hold, in the currency you will be charged in. Your bank may add its own fees for a payment in another currency.
  • Card payments and holds are processed by Stripe. Prices for rentals and transfers include our marketplace fee, which is separate from the provider's price.

8. Cancellation and refunds

  • Cancellation and refund conditions depend on the provider's terms and on our marketplace fee policy, and are shown before you book.
  • Our marketplace fee may be non-refundable.
  • Amounts paid in advance may be refunded only in the cases shown at booking.
  • There is no refund for problems you cause, such as not turning up or not bringing the required documents.
  • A ride hold that is never used is released, as set out above.
  • Refunds go back to the card you paid with. How long they take depends on the payment provider and your bank.
  • [TO CONFIRM: cancellation windows and refund amounts for rentals and for transfers]

9. Your responsibilities

  • Use the vehicle lawfully and with care, and follow the provider's agreement.
  • Be on time at the pick-up point you chose.
  • Treat drivers and providers with respect.
  • Do not use SIMO Rides for anything unlawful, or to get round our payment process.

10. Liability

The provider is solely responsible for:

  • the condition of the vehicle
  • insurance cover
  • accidents and damage
  • compliance with local laws
  • delivery and pick-up arrangements

We are not liable for disputes, damage, injury or loss arising from the agreement between you and the provider. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer. [TO CONFIRM: any cap on our own liability]

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, unless the consumer protection laws of the country you live in require otherwise. [TO CONFIRM: courts with jurisdiction over disputes]

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. The terms in force when you book apply to that booking.
