1. Who we are
SIMO Rides is a trading name of Drive Car Rental, Inc., a company registered in Delaware, United States. In this policy "SIMO Rides", "we" and "us" mean Drive Car Rental, Inc.
Registered office: [TO CONFIRM: registered office address]
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the SIMO Rides app, simorides.com, and the payment and tracking pages we send you, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. For any question about it, write to support@simorides.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run your bookings and rides.
- Account details: your name, your phone number and, if you give it, your email address. We sign you in with a one-time code sent to your phone by text message (and in some cases by email). Each code expires after 10 minutes.
- Booking details: for rentals and airport transfers, the dates, places, pick-up and drop-off addresses, the vehicle, the price, and the messages you exchange with us or the provider about the booking.
- Ride details: for a ride you hail in the street and pay by link, your first name (your last name is optional), a phone number or an email address so we can send your receipt and tracking link, the fare, and the drop-off point.
- Payment details: card payments are taken by Stripe. You type your card into Stripe's own form, so we do not see or store your full card number. We receive the result of each payment and a reference to it from Stripe. [TO CONFIRM: whether we also keep the card brand and last four digits]
- Location of drivers: while a driver is online in the app, the app sends the phone's location to us. We keep only the last known point for the current shift, and each update replaces the previous one; we do not keep a trail of the route. During a tracked ride, that position is shown on the tracking page to anyone who has the link.
- Location of riders: [TO CONFIRM: whether the rider app reads the device location, for example to suggest a pick-up point; the site itself does not]
- Device and usage information: the type of device, the app version, your IP address, and technical logs that help us keep the service working and secure. [TO CONFIRM: the app does not register device push tokens today; keep this line if notifications ship before publication]
- Driver and provider details: for drivers and rental providers, the vehicle, the number plate, and the bank account used for payouts.
3. How we use it
- To create and run your account and sign you in.
- To make, confirm, change and complete bookings and rides, and to pass the details a provider or driver needs to serve you.
- To take payments, place and release card holds, pay providers and drivers, and send receipts.
- To show a ride's progress on its tracking page.
- To send you service messages about your booking or ride by text message, WhatsApp or email.
- To prevent fraud, keep the service secure, and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To fix problems and improve the service.
Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on the contract with you (running your booking), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the service), our legal obligations (tax and accounting records), and your consent where it is required.
5. International transfers
Our database is hosted by Amazon Web Services in the European Union (Paris). Some of the processors above may handle your information in other countries, including the United States. [TO CONFIRM: the safeguard relied on for these transfers, for example standard contractual clauses]
6. How long we keep it
- Account details: for as long as your account is open, and then for [TO CONFIRM: period after account closure].
- Bookings, payments and receipts: for as long as tax and accounting law requires. [TO CONFIRM: retention period for booking and payment records]
- Sign-in codes: they expire after 10 minutes.
- Card holds for street-hail rides: a hold that is not used is released within 12 hours.
- Tracking links: they stop working 12 hours after they are issued.
- Driver location: only the last known point of each shift is kept, with the shift record. [TO CONFIRM: how long shift records are kept]
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- see the personal information we hold about you
- have it corrected
- have it deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive a copy of it in a portable format
- withdraw a consent you gave
To use any of these rights, write to support@simorides.com from the email address or phone number on your account. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we act. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. [TO CONFIRM: data protection contact or representative, and any registration required in the markets we serve, for example with the CNDP in Morocco]
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and keeping card numbers out of our systems altogether. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires it.
9. Children
SIMO Rides is not for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
10. Changes to this policy
